Privacy notice
O’Leary & Associates Ltd. (“O&A”, “we”) runs this self-assessment. This notice explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and your choices. We handle personal information in line with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
What we collect
- Your answers to the assessment questions and the scores calculated from them.
- About your community: community or organization, organization type, your role, population size, BC development region and regional district.
- Contact details: your name and email (required), and optionally your phone number, a note, and whether you’d like us to follow up.
- Community group code, if you choose to join a group. If you start a group, you may also give it a name and an organiser email so our team can contact you about it.
Your answers and contact details are saved only when you finish and agree to share. Optional group details are saved when you create a group. We also count assessment starts, sections reached and completions using a random identifier for each assessment session, without contact details, answers or advertising cookies. These counts help us improve the tool.
Why we collect it
- To produce your scorecard and keep a private link you can return to.
- Your email is used to link your saved results back to you, and to contact you only if you ask us to. We don’t send marketing email, and we don’t email you your scorecard — it appears on screen for you to download.
- To follow up with you if you ask us to, and to talk about how we could work together.
- To understand community economic resilience across BC regions. Any reporting we publish uses combined figures only, never individual responses or contact details.
Who sees it
- O&A staff approved by us, through a secure sign-in.
- Anyone with your private scorecard link can see your answers, scores and community, but never your name, email or phone. Keep the link to yourself if you’d like it private.
- Members of your community group only see combined averages once at least three people have taken part, never your individual answers.
- Our hosting providers store the data securely on our behalf. Staff sign-in is handled by Microsoft or Google. We do not sell or rent your information.
How long we keep it
After two years, we automatically remove names, emails, phone numbers, organization names, respondent roles and free-text notes from saved responses, and remove organiser emails from old groups. Community information, answers and scores remain for regional and group analysis. Anonymous visit records are removed after two years. You can ask us to delete your full response at any time.
Security checks
When enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile checks submissions and group creation for automated abuse. Cloudflare processes technical browser and connection information for this check. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or withdraw your consent, by emailing jamie@olearyandassociates.ca. We’ll respond within 30 days.
